Drove up to Amelia’s Diner in Shavertown this A.M. We have some friends that live in that area and one of them suggested I might like the food there after reading my posts on Big and Greasy Breakfasts! And my wife and I got to see four of our friends! Good food and conversation, what more can you want?
Breakfast is really good. I had one of the fluffiest veggie omelets of any diner I have eaten. Good bacon and great seasoned home fries.
It has been in business many many years. It was started by the grandparents of the present cook. He and his wife are the present owners. Guess what Grandma’s name was. Right! Amelia!
Our waitress who happens to be the owners wife took the picture in this article of the four of us. Teresa, one of our friends found out that they know each because they used to talk together when their daughters were in high school and practiced volly ball or something together thousands of years ago!
Service is great, coffee is really good and the atmosphere says DINER! It does have a little wear around the edges and does need some attention to cleanliness but for me that adds to the ambiance of the place. Dishes, silverware, tables and bathroom all clean!
So if you ever get to Shavertown near Dallas and Wilkes Barre, stop in!
